Barbie, you are healing my innocent and lonely homeschooled heart with your Schoolin' Around 80s Rewind Doll.

When you're young, school is one of the most important things you can show up for. I would know, I lived and breathed school everyday—I was homeschooled. As I unsheath the memories of childhood, my mom was always busy working to keep us afloat. That means the few hours she spent homeschooling us are great memories to me. Unfortunately at the time as an antsy, fidgety, yet to be diagnosed kid with ADHD, I hated school. I remember being unable to sit still for the hours and just wanting to get up and go play on the computer, or with my toys. I understood how important the education was though thanks to my mom. I'm grateful that my mom pushed us to try our best at everything no matter how hard it seemed. She instilled into me how important school is, so I'll dust off those meaningful and shiny parts of these memories and teach them to my own children.

Nowadays I'm back at college as a full-time student currently, and I love school. I'm also a mom of two. Speaking of being a mom, when I opened my Schoolin' Around 80s Rewind Doll, the greatest thing happened! My toddler came up to me and said "mommy, what's that?" And I got to gush about how much mommy loves Barbies, too. She asked me, "can I have a pink shelf for my Barbies?"

I told her "of course! For your birthday I'll get you a pink shelf and more Barbies!" Her face lit up.

She took my doll's empty box and put her mermaid Barbie and her My First Barbie into it together. She came back and pretended to unbox her dolls. It was the cutest thing ever. Thank you, Barbie.
